These are ten thanksgiving foods you should not feed your dog:
1. Bones
Giving dog bones always sound like a good idea, but it really isn’t a good thing to do. Bones can easily get stuck in their throat and may lead to your dog getting choked to death.
2. Nuts
Nut are bad for dogs. It can cause your dog to go into toxic shock with seizures
3. Alcohol
Nothing should make you feed alcohol to dogs. Do not give them alcohol or any food that contain alcohol because the smallest amount of alcohol can be toxic to dogs. You should have this warning at the back of your mind because the merriment of thanksgiving can get you carried away to feed your dog beer or wine.
4. Turkey Skin
Turkey is a very important thanksgiving food that humans enjoy and so do dogs, but while the turkey skin is not harmful to humans, it is difficult for dogs to digest and can lead to pancreatitis. So before you give your dog turkey meat, remove the skin.
5. Raw Turkey
Cooked skinless turkey is ok for dogs, but raw turkey is not a good food for dogs. Giving them raw turkey exposes them to the risk of salmonella that can lead to serious health complications.
6. Nutmeg
Do not feed dogs foods containing Nutmeg because nutmeg contains hallucinogenic properties that can cause tremors and problems in the dog’s central nervous system.
7. Mushroom
Mushroom is fungi and when dogs eat fungi it leads to seizures, vomiting and even death.
8. Onions and Garlic
Onions and garlic contain sulphides which are toxic to dogs. Sulphides causes anaemia in dogs because it destroys their red blood cells.
9. Sage
Sage is found in many Thanksgiving recipes. It contains resins and oils, which if ingested by your dog, can upset its stomach.
10. Dough
Dough can rise in your dog’s stomach causing abdominal pain and vomiting. The raw eggs in dough can also give your dog salmonella. Dogs can eat the dough droppings on the floor so make sure you clean them off the floor immediately they fall.
